Tyska Kyrkan meaning “German Church”, is located in central Gamla Stan. I originally made a smaller version of this painting a year ago which ended up being a present for a friend. I have been wanting to paint a large version for some time now so got out the brushes and got to work. I wanted a strong blue sky which I could reflect into the windows in the lane. This is in Gamla Stan, the historic center of Stockholm. The Church is know as Tyska kyrkan “German Church”, and has an impressive wooden spire reaching upwards along with some decorative
brickworks. I’ve added a copy of my photo which I used for reference.
The lane is a little dark as in shade from the buildings but further along the sun can reach the wider street in the distance. I’ve added little details where possible as this is my favorite part to paint. I hope you enjoy.
